Eric Garrett, 19, Murdered

Just after midnight on Saturday, a man was robbed while leaving a bar. He cooperated with the robbers but they shot him anyway.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

A 29-year-old man was shot in the back as he was leaving a tavern on the northern side of Milwaukee shortly after midnight on Saturday, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

The man told police that he was shot by two people who approached him on the street, near N. 30th and W. Center streets. He gave the suspects his cell phone and was shot once in the upper back when he fled, police said.

Eric Garrett, 19, also cooperated with two people who approaced him on the street, near 24th and Nash. He was shot dead.
A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was shot to death about 2:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of N. 24th St. after two people tried to rob him, according to police. When the victim told them he had no money, he was shot once in the chest, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pair fled in a green Geo Tracker. Police are still looking for them and the vehicle.

These robbers are cold-blooded thugs.

In the first case, the man handed over his cell phone to the two thugs but was shot in the back as he turned to run.

In the second case, Eric Garrett was murdered after telling two thugs he had no money.

If he had money to offer them, would his life have been spared? I doubt it.

The brutality of these criminals, the way they don't hesitate to shoot their victims during a robbery or attempted robbery, is frightening.

They have no respect for life whatsoever.

I don't know how these thugs can speak to their victims, look them in the eye, and then proceed to shoot them.

Have they no conscience at all? No slightest shred of compassion?

It's so sick. It's so senseless. And it will happen again. There will be more violence, more heartbreak.

There has been a rash of shootings in Milwaukee:
Five separate shootings leave 1 dead, 5 injured

Man shoots roommate during argument

Family reeling at loss of shopkeeper

2 police officers shot on south side; suspect in custody

The good guys are fighting the good fight. The police need the support of Milwaukee citizens. Without it, the city will die.

Garrett shares his experience in losing a second son.

It's horribe that the Garrett family is forced to deal with the loss of another family member due to gun violence. Mr. Garrett has lost both of his sons.

It's awful for a parent to bury a child, but to bury two under circumstances like this is so terribly sad.
