Evan Thomas and Charles Krauthammer: Obama and God

Evan Thomas and Charles Krauthammer were guests on Inside Washington last weekend.

Harvard graduate and Newsweek editor Thomas was making a fool of himself, slobbering all over Obama.

For his part, Krauthammer hammered away at Obama and his Cairo speech.

Video.

Transcript

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: The speech will be remembered for two things: What he said about Iran and what he said about the Arab-Israeli dispute. What he said about Iran, it was the weakest statement on Iran's nuclear program ever given by a president, weaker than anything heard in the last seven or eight years. It was a victory for the Iranian radicals... who have proven that you can defy the West and the United States and be treated with kid gloves. The other notable aspect of the speech is that he did more in three minutes to delegitimize the existence of Israel than any president in American history.

Those are extremely strong words.

Obama "did more in three minutes to delegitimize the existence of Israel than any president in American history.

Yeah, well, the truth hurts.

Krauthammer is right about the Obama administration's position on Israel. It is not too smooth. There are so many mixed messages.

I think it's interesting that the White House, the lib media and the entertainment lib elite continue to spend so much time bashing Rush Limbaugh for what he says about Obama.

Others, like Krauthammer, have been as tough or tougher on Obama as Limbaugh. Nonetheless, the demon du jour is Limbaugh. The Left hasn't launched an all-out assault on Krauthammer.

It's so clear that the Leftists' demonization of Limbaugh is a carefully calculated strategy. He's serving as their favorite piƱata, even though other conservatives are saying things about Obama that are equally critical or more so. Krauthammer provides an excellent example.

Countering Krauthammer's criticism was Evan Thomas. Love for Obama oozed out of Thomas.

Embarrassing.

NewsBusters has a transcript of Thomas' remarks.

EVAN THOMAS: Obama- We're understanding what Obama is. He is the great teacher. He is this guy that stands above everybody. There's some condescension in it. But, he stands above everybody and says, 'Now, listen. You people have to stop blaming each other unreasonably. You have to get along here and I am going to show you the way.' It is a pretty brave role in many ways. It's going to make people like Charles really mad. To me, the question is, is it just rhetoric, or is he now going to follow up and forced some of this happen?

Good grief.

Truly embarrassing. Thomas worships Obama. He talks like a member of a cult.

At least Thomas didn't call Obama "God," as he did when he was talking to Chris Matthews on last Friday's edition of Hardball.

Also from NewsBusters:

EVAN THOMAS: Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn't felt that way in recent years. So Obama’s had, really, a different task. We're seen too often as the bad guys. And he – he has a very different job from – Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Obama is ‘we are above that now.’ We're not just parochial, we're not just chauvinistic, we're not just provincial. We stand for something – I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God. He’s-

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Yeah.

Obama is not God -- not "sort of," not at all.

Thomas not only manages to insult Reagan and all the Americans who elected him to two terms as president, but he also slams the country itself. He indirectly slams our military.

He says that in 1984 we were the good guys. In recent years, we've been the bad guys. Thomas is taking a swipe at Bush and his administration, as well as our men and women in the service. If we've been the bad guys, what does that make our troops and what they've done in recent years?

Thomas proclaims that Obama is saying "we are above [America] now." What?

He babbles that now we stand for something as a nation, thanks to Obama, aka God. That is such incredible drivel. It's amazing. Thomas' words are stunning.

Obama is NOT above the country, nor is he above the world. That is absolutely ridiculous, but Chris Matthews agrees with Thomas. It's insanity.

The Leftist media have really gone off the deep end.

I'm thankful for clear thinkers like Krauthammer.
