Obama's Food Taster

Obama had a food taster in tow when he was in Paris.

From AFP:

A US "taster" tested the food being dished up to President Barack Obama at a dinner in a French restaurant, a waiter said on Sunday.

"They have someone who tastes the dishes," said waiter Gabriel de Carvalho from the "La Fontaine de Mars" restaurant where Obama and his family turned up for dinner on Saturday night.

"It wasn't very pleasant for the cooks at first, but the person was very nice and was relaxed, so it all went well," he said on the Itele news channel.

Hot Air notes that President George W. Bush had a food taster on a trip to London in 2003.

From the Daily Mail:

AS if the Queen hasn't got enough on her plate accommodating all President Bush's security demands, the Secret Service have put a food taster into the Buckingham Palace kitchens.

Nothing is being left to chance by the Americans, who have assembled the largest security operation seen in London for the three-day visit.

According to sources, everything that is destined to be served up for the President has to be tasted first.

Even unflappable Palace courtiers are bemused. 'It's all a bit medieval,' said one. 'Perhaps they have got us muddled up with the Borgias.' Of course, Palace food is not to everyone's liking.

Having food tasters does seem medieval.

Maybe Obama is holding over this part of the post 9/11 security operation, just like he's holding over all those other procedures, such as warrantless wiretapping. And of course, there's Gitmo.

In any event, the regal King Obama makes King George look like a commoner.

I wonder if the food taster did his duty when Obama went to Ray's Hell Burger.

Will the food taster be coming to Green Bay with Obama on Thursday? Maybe Obama won't be eating any of the local cuisine. If Obama did eat at Kroll's, I wonder if the cooks would be offended like they were in Paris. Probably not.

It does make sense that King Obama would have a food taster like in medieval times.

He's got his court jester, Joe Biden.

Despite the obvious royalty overtones. It does seem like a good security option to have.

We know the President is a huge target. I can easily see a poisoned head of state and someone crying about NO food taster.

What is curious is to what criteria do they have to call upon such services. Was there something uncovered that prompted that?

Of course the State Run Media has no real journalists left.

So, a human being should die if the President's food has been compromised? Right. There's got to be another way. I guess Obama didn't think this thing all of the way through, like most everything he does, except when he plans his date nights.
