Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer are part of an orchestrated effort to smear Americans who oppose government-run health care.
In a column appearing in USA Today, they slam dissenters as "un-American."
We believe it is healthy for such a historic effort to be subject to so much scrutiny and debate. The failure of past attempts is a reminder that health insurance reform is a defining moment in our nation's history — it is well worth the time it takes to get it right. We are confident that we will get this right.
Already, three House committees have passed this critical legislation and over August, the two of us will work closely with those three committees to produce one strong piece of legislation that the House will approve in September.
In the meantime, as members of Congress spend time at home during August, they are talking with their constituents about reform. The dialogue between elected representatives and constituents is at the heart of our democracy and plays an integral role in assuring that the legislation we write reflects the genuine needs and concerns of the people we represent.
However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue. These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted "Just say no!" drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion.
Let the facts be heard
These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.
This smear campaign is un-American.
Bottom line: The Leftists do not tolerate protests that challenge their agenda. To them, such protests are un-American.
William Ayers is a hero, but senior citizens who let their representatives know how vehemently they oppose government-run health care and a system of rationing are un-American.
Go figure.
The fact is these protests are not un-American.
The suggestion that they are is.

You may be living in a blue state, but you definitely are in a jaundiced stateof mind. In scanning through your posts, I notice that there are no comments, which is good, I hope. I say I hope because I am going to assume that this means no one is reading this inflammatory propaganda rhetoric you are producing. Get a life and find something more productive to do with your time.
AHEFT shows African American health care has long been rationed by breeding us to limit our lives, so why should we pay for all those boomer pensions we will never benefit from? Afater all, it was the boomer pensions which caused the market to crash.
These lefty fascists like Pelosi would be really quite funny... if WE weren't the ones they were planning to control, that is.
Now the DNC is deploying AFL-CIO palookas while at the same time hypocritically dismissing Obamacare opponents as paid shills -even running TV ads to slander them- and delirious SanFranNan is seeing imaginary Swastikas.
This should make clear to anyone just what these power-drunk elitists think of your opinion.
Note that whenever Obama, Emanuel, or Gibbs are asked about why polls show SO many people oppose their misguided Cap-n-Trade and Obamacare proposals, they ALWAYS segue-right-into “we need to educate the public…”.
LOL- save your breath... Constitutionally-aware American patriots don’t take lectures from Marxists.

Look for Obama to appoint a re-education czar.
Funny to read this:
"Bottom line: The Leftists do not tolerate protests that challenge their agenda. To them, such protests are un-American."
Under Bush, the past 8 years, there were Bush, his admin, his mouthpieces, and supporters, who called those who didn't support the war, or whatever else fit, un-American.
If the Dems were doing anything out of ordinary, I might listen to your vitriol (sp), while not necessarily agreeing. But you're claiming a fault where there is none. Unless of course you want to apologize for all those years of calling those who disagreed with the past administration un-American.
People who actively sought to undercut the war effort and subsequently put American troops at greater risk deserved to be called un-American.
It's apples and oranges.
Just found your site, love it, could you blogroll Left Coast Rebel?
LCR
Sure.
Do you have a blogroll, LCR?
Mary - I do have a blogroll and you just went up on it! By the way too your 'wall of shame' is awesome.
LCR
Thanks, LCR!
Hey to whomever is hiding under the top Anon posting.
Mary has many readers, the lack of comments, on my behalf, is due to her comprehensiveness. That is to say, I sometimes cannot find anything to say that would add value.
Also, I have been at odds with her a few times as well. You might want to actually TRY to quash that Typical Liberal Intolerance and actually READ what others hold as values.
Just as I read Daily KOS and Mother Jones along with Town Hall.
Places Like Freedom Eden gives you commentary that the State Run Media (NYT, WaPo, HuffPo, MSNBC, CNN, ABC etc.) will not.
Thanks, Lee. I appreciate that.
Great post.
Obama is a socialist/fascist and an arrogant, power-grabbing one at that. Have you reported yourself for "fishy" activity yet?
Bush is looking pretty damn good about now.
And the Democrats in Congress who first voted for us to send troops to Iraq, then rescinded because it was taking longer than THEY thought it should, have the audacity to revised historical accounts. As do statists like Anonymous here. Not a peep about Obama increasing our troops in Afghanistan, but for seven whining years, leftists demanded we leave Iraq. Why is Afghanistan off limits for denouncement and outrage, if war is "so bad"? The mission hasn't exactly changed. It's not because of it being "your guy" in the White House, because that would be *cough* hypocritical, right?
Decrying the mission of our troops, as left-wingers have done for years, is pretty much slamming our troops, no matter how you dress up the rhetoric. No, it's not the same as spitting on them, throwing garbage on them, calling them baby murderers as college students did to returning soldiers from Vietnam. That was vile beyond reproach.
Although, most of those liberal anti-war activists from way-back are serving in Congress or in blue states... fancy that.
Anti-war... no one who is sane WANTS war. But no one should ever will lay down and be killed without making an attempt to defend himself or herself. And no one should condone the actions of terrorists. Those are the Un-Americans, not those who don't want socialized medicine rammed down their throats.
