Keith Olbermann has declared war on Glenn Beck.
That makes sense. Beck's show is doing well; and Olbermann, being an opportunist, intends to exploit Beck's popularity to boost his own ratings on MSNBC.
I think that's a lost cause.
On Sunday, he posted on Daily Kos, "Send Me Everything You Can Find About Glenn Beck."
I don't know why I've got this phrasing in my head, but: Find everything you can about Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes.
No, even now, I refuse to go all caps.
No, sending me links to the last two Countdowns with my own de-constructions of his biblical vision quality Communist/Fascist/Socialist/Zimbalist art at Rockefeller Center (where, curiously, he works, Comrade) doesn't count. Nor does sending me links to specious inappropriate point-underscoring prove-you're-innocent made-up rumors.
Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes (even though Ailes' power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony "truce" push).
This becomes necessary after this in order to prove various cliches about goose and gander, and to remind everybody to walk softly and carry a big popsicle, and most particularly to save this nation from the Oligarhy of The Stupid.
I keep wondering if somewhere somebody named Ollie Garhey thinks he's in charge now. Or, even more entertainingly and societally satisfying, if somebody named Ali Garhi does.
Despite the worn-out snark above, I am in earnest here.
Olbermann's style is really annoying. I think the way he writes bugs me because I can picture him speaking the words, they ring in my head.
TORTURE!
What's funny about Ben Affleck's impression of Olbermann is that it's not exaggerated in the least. This November 1, 2008 SNL bit should have been a wake-up call to Olbermann. He should have realized that he's looking in the mirror when he watches the skit. If he did, he apparently liked what he saw because he didn't change.
It was sort of like Norm McDonald's spot-on impression of David Letterman. That SNL skit (January 11, 1997) should have been the slap in the face that would cause Letterman to abandon his tired, old, annoying shtick. It didn't.
But I digress.
In spite of Olbermann's dismal ratings, he soldiers on, pretending to be relevant as he desperately tries to recruit viewers in spite of being rejected by the viewing public.
Olbermann has stalked others. Beck won't be the first. The thing with Olbermann is that he's making his attack on Beck personal. It's not a watchdog situation, keeping tabs on players in government.
Is Glenn Beck serving in the Obama administration?
Who pays Beck's salary? American taxpayers?
Is Beck advising Obama?
Beck is not in the same league as Obama's czars.
Olbermann doesn't understand that I guess.

I can't help but differ - Glenn Beck does seem to be advising the Obama Administration (hahaha).
Olbermann is a fool. Then again, look where he works.
