Keith Olbermann: Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Syphilis

Even before Keith Olbermann began his poisonous MSNBC show on Tuesday, he was dripping hatred.

In a tease for a segment on Rush Limbaugh's interview with NBC's Jamie Gangel, Olbermannn managed to slam both Limbaugh and Glenn Beck in one disgusting swoop.

From Mark Finkelstein, NewsBusters:

[Olbermann] first played a clip from the interview of Rush saying: "look what I have spawned . . . Glenn Beck is a result of my success."
KEITH OLBERMANN: Geez, that's like congratulating yourself on spreading syphillis.

Good grief. How much lower will Olbermann go?

I suppose a better question is how much lower will MSNBC go?

I don't mean the network's abysmal ratings. I mean in terms of decorum.

In a rather unexpected turn, during his "Worst Person" segment, Olbermann did give Limbaugh a little support regarding his part in a bid to buy the St. Louis Rams.

From Countdown with Keith Olbermann, October 8, 2009, MSNBC transcript:

KEITH OLBERMANN: The bronze tonight to critics of Rush Limbaugh. You heard me, critics of Rush Limbaugh, the ones who are bristling at news that he and hockey executive Dave Checkitz (ph) might by the NFL‘s St. Louis Rams, suggested he should not be permitted to because he made racist comments about Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb that resulted in Limbaugh‘s firing by ESPN in 2003. There are now going to be character tests for sports owners? There will only be three of them left.

Unless they beat the Vikings Sunday, as of next Thursday, it will have been a full year since the Rams won a game. My, god, if Limbaugh wants to buy them, far be it for me to tell him he‘s flushing his money down a rat hole.
