Amber Bahr and Lisa Pfund

Lisa Pfund is the mother of soldier Amber Bahr. She was one of Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan's victims.

Amber Bahr

Bahr was shot in the stomach. Thankfully, she is in stable condition.

TMJ 4's Charles Benson has been interviewing Pfund from her Random Lake, Wisconsin home, doing a steady stream of live reports.

Here's
TMJ 4 video.

From the
Chicago Tribune:

Random Lake woman says her daughter was shot in the stomach at Fort Hood, Texas, but is stable at an area hospital.

Lisa Pfund says her daughter, 19-year-old Amber Bahr, was shot during an attack that left 12 people dead and 31 wounded at the Army base.

...Pfund told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that she didn't know anything more than Bahr had been shot and that she hoped to get more details soon. She talked to emergency room personnel, who filled her in on her daughter's condition.

Pfund says her daughter joined the Army reserves when she was 17 and she last saw her in May. She was unsure of Bahr's rank or unit.

My prayers are with Bahr and her family. I wish her the best and hope she recovers completely and quickly.

People react so differently to tragic situations.

There is no way I would want Charles Benson or any other reporter sitting in my home for HOURS as I waited for word on my child's condition.

At one point, Pfund was on the air LIVE while taking a cell phone call from one of her injured daughter's friends.

The coverage is like some bizarre reality show.

I also wouldn't be doing phone interviews with AP.

I would be an absolute wreck. I would be frantic, doing everything I could to get information, tend to the rest of my family, and arrange to be with my child.

No way would I have a reporter and camera crew in my house.

Like I said, people are different.

Lisa Pfund

I don't know why she agreed to do that. I don't know how she maintained her composure taking that call. I don't really know how she maintained her composure at all.

I would have kept that moment private. My conversation with my child would have been private, not televised.

From the Sheboygan Press:
A military spokesman has praised the heroics of a Wisconsin soldier who helped other soldiers injured in the Fort Hood shooting before tending to her own wounds.

Lt. Gen. Bob Cone told NBC's "Today" show Friday that 19-year-old Amber Bahr of Random Lake helped apply a tourniquet to an injured soldier. He says Bahr then attended to other soldiers before realizing she'd been shot.

Bahr was one of 30 soldiers injured in the shooting at the Texas base Thursday, which left 13 dead. Her family was originally told Bahr had been shot in the belly, but Bahr later told them she'd been shot in the back.

Bahr exhibited great bravery.

God bless her.
