Pap Smear: Hanukkah or Christmas Gift

"Merry Christmas, honey! It's a Pap smear!"

"It's just what I wanted! How did you know? I love it!"

CBS Cares Christmas Pap Smear PSA

If you celebrate Hanukkah, here's a gift idea:

CBS Cares: Hanukkah Pap Smear PSA

From the
New York Daily News:

Can't find the perfect holiday gift for your honey?

How about a Pap smear?

That's what CBS is selling in a series of disarming spots that tell male viewers to set up a Pap smear for the women in their lives.

"Want to do something special for your woman this Hanukah?" says actor Josh Pais in one. "Schedule her Pap smear. Just a schmear could save her life."

Then, as a shot of an animated menorah comes to life, he adds, "Give the gift that will light up her menorah."

Matthew Margo, the writer and executive producer of the public service spots, claims the menorah line doesn't have a double meaning.

"The menorah can mean different things to different people," he says. "It's just a menorah, not a flamethrower. We exercised a lot of restraint."

No, no, no. This is not a good idea.

This is not the perfect holiday gift.

Medical tests are not the way to go when it comes to gift-giving for Christmas or Hanukkah.

An Ove Glove, a Chia Pet, the Clapper -- all better choices than a Pap smear.

Thanks, CBS, for giving me the gift of a good laugh.
