Obama's Executive Order - Political Trickery

Wisconsin Right to Life weighs in on Obama's executive order:

Wisconsin Right to Life remains adamantly opposed to the Senate-passed health care bill (H.R. 3590) which requires federal agencies to subsidize and administer health plans that will pay for elective abortions.

Wisconsin Right to Life Legislative Director Susan Armacost said, "Millions of right-to-life citizens understand that the executive order issued by President Obama was an act of political trickery. It changes nothing and does not negate any of the pro-abortion provisions in the bill. As the President and his pro-abortion allies know, issuing an executive order cannot amend a bill and the courts will uphold what the law itself says."

Professor Robert Destro, a professor of law and former dean of the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America, has sent lawmakers a letter explaining why it is that the bill's language will govern. Professor Destro's letter can be found at the website of the National Right to Life Committee at http://www.nrlc.org

You will also find an extensive analysis of the pro-abortion provisions in the bill prepared by the National Right to Life Committee.

"Rest assured, Wisconsin lawmakers who vote for this highly objectionable legislation will be held accountable for their actions," said Armacost.
