Pelosi: NO Federal Funding of Abortion in Health Care Reform

Nancy Pelosi is lying through her teeth about health care reform and the federal funding of abortion.

Video.

NANCY PELOSI: This is not about doing recon..., uh, health care reform under reconciliation. This is about doing corrections to the Senate bill under reconciliation. The bulk of the bill, 75 to 80 percent of it, is already in the Senate bill. So this about, uh, uh, a small percentage of what is there. And uh, and members are, they're pretty astute. They've been, they, they, they know these issues very well.

...We want to pass a health care bill to provide much more health care for all Americans, and especially women who are discriminated in terms of health insurance and pay more. So, so, if you believe that there should be no federal funding of abortion, and if you believe that there should be no change in the policy, and if you believe that we need health care for all Americans, we will pass the bill. And we will pass the bill.

From Wisconsin Right to Life:
Yesterday, President Obama called for a vote in the next few weeks on Obamacare. To no one's surprise, he, Senator Harry Reid and Representative Nancy Pelosi have stated they plan to try to ram the measure through Congress using the "nuclear option," that requires only a majority vote in the Senate.

"Their first challenge will be trying to pass the Senate bill (H.R. 3590) in the House where Pelosi does not have the votes at this time," said Susan Armacost, Legislative Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "It is being widely reported that abortion is the key sticking point for Obamacare due to the tenaciousness of Representative Bart Stupak and other right-to-life Democrats who object to the numerous and expansive abortion provisions in Obamacare."

If Pelosi can secure sufficient votes to pass the Senate bill, they will also pass a companion bill which contains changes that the President and the congressional leadership want. The Senate would then pass the companion bill with only 51 votes and the President would sign both bills into law.

"There are huge problems with the Senate bill that will not be fixed in the companion bill," said Armacost.. "The bill contains taxpayer funding of abortions as well as premiums and it would also result in the rationing of health care for older Americans. These problems exist in the Senate bill and will not be fixed in the companion bill." Armacost said those problems include:
---Billions of taxpayer dollars for Community Centers that could be used to pay for abortions without restrictions.

---Taxpayer subsidies for abortion coverage in premiums.

---Weak conscience protections for health care facilities and professionals who do not want to participate in abortions.

---Senior citizens prohibited from using their own money to pay for better health care plans.

---Massive unsustainable costs and cuts to Medicare.

Douglas Johnson, Legislative Director of the National Right to Life Committee said that the Senate "produced a final bill that is the most pro-abortion single piece of legislation to reach the floor of either house of Congress since Roe v. Wade."

"In spite of the fact that the vast majority of American taxpayers do not want their tax dollars used to fund abortion and the fact that older Americans will be in grave jeopardy under this onerous legislation, Obama, Pelosi and Reid are determined to ram it through if they can," said Armacost. "If there was ever a time for the American people to rise up in opposition to what is happening in Washington, now is the time!."

Pelosi will say anything and Obama will do anything to pass government-run health care.

Don't buy the lies.
