I was reading Joanne Weintraub's review of Denis Leary's show at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee.
In general, she wasn't very enthusiastic about it.
She writes:
For his part, the explosively acerbic Leary mostly took out his attitude and swung it around.
Weintraub did some attitude-swinging of her own in the review.
As usual with Leary, the Catholic Church came in for a sound but not always original thrashing: "They may not love gays, but they do love guys," and all that. And if you're bashing the people, Catholic and otherwise, who bash homosexuals, please explain why it's OK later in your act to swish around and refer to men's carry-alls as "fag bags."
What?
Catholics bash homosexuals?
That's a sweeping and unfair generalization.
Yes, Weintraub is referring to Leary's bashing of Catholics, and she is citing an inconsistency in his use of the term "fag bags." However, that doesn't excuse her own swipe at Catholics, calling us people who bash homosexuals.
