MILWAUKEE (Reuters) - The Arizona Diamondbacks scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to overcome the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4 on Monday, in a game where both teams managed to incite a negative reaction from spectators.
Before a pitch was thrown, dozens of people gathered outside Miller Park, chanting slogans and waving placards in protest against the state of Arizona's new immigration laws.
Here's video of the protest:
They didn't have a very large turnout. The protesters didn't seem very enthusiastic either.

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd
Not this crowd!
Not surprisingly, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is publicizing the protest online, serving to get the word out, aiding in the call to arms.
From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
A group will protest outside of Monday's Milwaukee Brewers game against the Arizona Diamondbacks to criticize Arizona's attempt to crack down on illegal immigration.
Voces de la Frontera has called on Major League Baseball to move its planned 2011 All-Star game out of Arizona after the state passed a law last month that tightens enforcement of immigration laws by local law enforcement authorities. The group rallied last month at the downtown Milwaukee offices of Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.
Monday's rally is part of a national effort launched on the website Movethegame.org aimed at trying to persuade Selig to move the game out of the state.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel does such a poor job of providing news coverage. Stories are ignored for days or entirely, but it manages to post about a protest that hasn't occurred yet?
This isn't covering the news. This is the JS acting in cooperation with Voces de la Frontera.
MovetheGame.org is proud of its protests moving inside the stadium.
Actions Move Inside the Park
Yesterday was the most recent in a series of actions that have taken our campaign inside the stadium. Representatives from Presente.org and PUENTE unfurled a banner at last night’s Diamondbacks game in Phoenix that read “Mr. Kendrick…Don’t Fund Hate. No SB1070″. In Seattle and New York, protestors have dropped banners and even run on the field to get Bud Selig’s attention. The Associated Press reported on last night’s story moments after it happened:
Diamondbacks-Nats game delayed after immigration law protest sign draped over wall
Associated Press, August 2, 2010
PHOENIX — The Nationals and Diamondbacks were delayed briefly Monday night when a fan draped a sign over the left-field wall protesting Arizona’s immigration law.
Plate umpire Angel Hernandez halted the game in the first inning when he saw the large sign addressed to Diamondbacks owner Ken Hendrick.
The sign read: “Mr. Kendrick … Don’t feed hate. Say no to SB1070.”
I doubt that delaying the game is winning over fans.
The overwhelming majority of Americans supports the enforcement of our immigration laws.
The fringe opposes Arizona's law. That's the reality.
I fully support Bud Selig on his stance regarding the All-Star Game being played in Arizona.
