Maureen Dowd, George W. Bush, and the Ground Zero Mosque

This is a stunning turn of events.

Maureen Dowd, the absolutely rabid, Bush-hating, New York Times queen lib, now is praising President George W. Bush and calling on him to speak to Americans.

This woman has spent over a decade trashing Bush, mocking him, belittling him, dissing him in every possible way.

Dowd would write columns, actually little vignettes, with imagined dialogue between Bush and his father, or Bush and Dick Cheney.

They were vile, horrible pieces.

But now, Dowd is begging for the wisdom of George W. Bush.

Dowd writes:

The war against the terrorists is not a war against Islam. In fact, you can’t have an effective war against the terrorists if it is a war on Islam.

George W. Bush understood this. And it is odd to see Barack Obama less clear about this matter than his predecessor. It’s time for W. to weigh in.

She has got to be kidding!

Bush, the idiot. Bush, the dunce. Bush, the cowboy. Bush, the frat boy. Bush, the chimp. Bush, the shrub.

Time to weigh in, buddy.

Good grief.

Dowd does get in some shots at Bush, albeit misdirected ones as usual.

This — along with immigration reform and AIDS in Africa — was one of his points of light. As the man who twice went to war in the Muslim world, he has something of an obligation to add his anti-Islamophobia to this mosque madness. W. needs to get his bullhorn back out.

Oh, Bush has an obligation to share his wisdom and bring some good sense to the Ground Zero mosque debate because he went to war twice in the Muslim world.

So Bush owes the Muslim world his vocal support of a mosque at Ground Zero?

OBLIGATION?

I believe Bush went to war in the Muslim world because WE WERE ATTACKED BY RADICAL ISLAMISTS ON 9/11.

Does Dowd live in New York? Does Dowd live on this planet?
