Keith Olbermann's indefinite suspension from MSNBC definitely turned out to be very brief.
He'll be off the air for only two episodes of Countdown.
From NBC New York:
Keith Olbermann's suspension from msnbc television for donating to three Democratic campaigns will end this coming Tuesday, NBC announced Sunday night.
Olbermann was suspended indefinitely Friday for violating NBC News rules about donations.
In a statement released Sunday evening, Phil Griffin, president of msnbc television, said he had deliberated about Olbermann’s status for several days.
“I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy,” Griffin said. “We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night.
On his own Twitter account, Olbermann broke his silence about the suspension on Sunday. “Greetings From Exile! A quick, overwhelmed, stunned THANK YOU for support that feels like a global hug & obviously left me tweetless XO,” he wrote.
The anchor was likely referring to an online petition calling for his immediate reinstatement, run by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, exceeded 250,000 signatures.
Here's Olbermann's tweet thanking his supporters.
I see an online petition gathered 250,000 signatures. Assuming the signatures weren't fraudulent, that number is pretty much Olbermann's average nightly audience, isn't it?
I think this suspension was a publicity stunt.
It allowed Leftists and Olbermann's colleagues, like Rachel Maddow, to use the "suspension" to attack FOX News.
The whole thing was kind of a pep rally for the dejected Left-wing after the shellacking in the midterm elections.
I doubt that Olbermann was really suspended.
I think there's a simple explantion. Maybe he was having cosmetic surgery (probably liposuction on his thighs) and needed a long weekend to recover. Maybe Olbermann was jealous of the enormous rallies other hosts held and he wanted some attention.
MSNBC cooked up the suspension to boost its dismal ratings. Afterall, this is sweeps.
However, any bump in viewership will be very temporary, probably less enduring than Olbermann's two program suspension.
So Olbermann, the martyr, will be back on the air Tuesday.
Crazed Leftists rejoice!

He committed no crime… Nobody with an IQ above 30 thinks Olbermann is either impartial or a journalist, so it’s not like his credibility was tarnished. He has none. His on-air advocacy for candidates provided far more assistance than a couple of grand quietly donated to their coffers.
