This has really been a rough season for Brett Favre.
He's fading.
I can understand why his jersey sales are down. His career is about to end. He's not the future for his team, the present is painful, and the stuff in his recent past off the field is embarrassing.
It's over.
He'll leave the game as a sad figure, a broken old man, a joke.
It could have been so different. Favre made some very bad choices.
Rodgers passes Favre on jersey sales
Besides quarterback rating and passing yards, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has passed Brett Favre in at least one other sports statistic this season: jersey sales.
NFLShop.com reports that in the period between April 1 and Dec. 3, Rodgers ranks 6th in top-selling NFL jerseys. Rodgers jumped ahead of Favre, who is now ranked 7th.
However, Favre is still the all-time leader in jersey sales, NFL officials have said.
...The top selling jersey belongs to Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos. After Tebow comes Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints; Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers; Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts; and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots.
I'm sure Favre's jersey sales aren't weighing heavily on him.
He has more pressing concerns, like Jenn Sterger.
A spokesman for the former New York Jets game hostess who allegedly received inappropriate photos and phone messages from Brett Favre says she won't sue the Vikings quarterback if he's punished by the NFL.
Jenn Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, said Thursday that his client would like the league to "implement a program" to prevent unwanted advances such as those she's alleging Favre made.
...Reese said Sterger wants the league to discipline Favre before his career ends. "It's not a money story," Reese said, adding his client's goal is some acknowledgment that Favre was in the wrong.
This is a long, painful farewell.
