Mark Belling, WISN talk radio host, held his annual current events quiz today.
The quiz had its usual male bias, with a heavy dose of sports trivia. I think a woman should submit questions to level the playing field and provide balance, but it's Belling's game so he writes all the questions and all the rules.
The worst of Belling's rules is that he allows the winner of the previous year's contest to play. Past winners must wait until 4:30 to call in and participate, but they are eligible to play and win.
So, the same guy keeps winning.
The 2009 winner is the 2010 winner. He's won before, too.
I feel sorry for the guy that was the leader before "the legendary Steve," according to Belling, called in.
For the 2011 quiz, perhaps Belling should just ship the prizes to Steve and the rest of us can tune out and not waste our time.

UPDATE 2011: Mark Belling was cheering for "the legendary Steve" to win again. Steve managed to get through twice, but he blew it on both tries. Steve had won the last four consecutive current events quizzes, and five out of the last six.
Belling arranged to have Steve be the final contestant. He stayed on the air past 6:00PM to give Steve every opportunity to hold his title.
Even after Steve lost, Belling asked him more questions "for fun."
What the hell?

UPDATE 2013: The 2012 current events quiz was held on Friday, January 4, 2013. "The legendary Steve" got through once, though getting through at all isn't easy. He was out quickly and presented no challenge at all to the leaders.
