Steve Cohen: Nazis, Republicans, Health Care

DEMOCRAT Steve Cohen dropped some incendiary rhetoric.

During debate on the repeal of ObamaCare, Cohen compared Republicans in the House of Representatives to Nazis.

How civil!

From ABC News:

The newfound civility didn’t last long. Political rhetoric in Congress doesn’t get much nastier than the words of one House Democrat during the debate on repealing the health care law.

In an extraordinary outburst on the House floor, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) invoked the Holocaust to attack Republicans on health care and compared rhetoric on the issue to the work of infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

STEVE COHEN, DEMOCRAT: They say it's a government takeover of health care - a big lie, just like Goebbels. You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually, people believe it. Like blood libel, that's the same kind of thing.

The Germans said enough about the Jews and the people believed it, and you had the Holocaust. You tell a lie over and over again. And we've heard it on this floor: government takeover of health care.

Politifact - nonpartisan, Pulitzer Prize winning - 2009, St. Petersburg Times, said the biggest lie of 2010 was government takeover of health care because there is no government takeover.

The Dem leadership should strongly condemn Cohen for his outrageous remarks.

I suppose there's no uproar among the Dems because Cohen's comments are so typical of the Left's rhetoric. Maybe they're talking points straight from the White House.

But this is supposed to be a new era of civility, isn't it?

Apparently, Cohen didn't get the memo.

Obama better get his party in line.

The Dems' credibility continues to crumble.

"Apparently, Cohen didn't get the memo." Apparently he did and has apologizied. Balanced news outlets covered both his original inappropriate comments and his withdrawl/apology...its a shame you missed it (or opted to ignore it).

His "apology" was pathetic.
