Packers WWE Smackdown

From WLUK:

Members of the Green Bay Packers were special guests on “WWE Friday Night SmackDown.”

The show was taped Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. When a handful of Packers showed up, the crowd was loving it! Clay Matthews, Bryan Bulaga, Scott Wells, Tom Crabtree, Matt Wilhelm, and Graham Harrell were special guests at the event. When the lights went out, between matches, the crowd randomly chanted "Go Pack Go" and "We Want Clay." For fans of WWE and the Packers, Tuesday was the perfect combination of events.

“(The) Green Bay Packers have been celebrating touchdowns and big plays by motioning to a title around their waist during the Packers amazing quest to the Super Bowl. Now, Packer players will get their own WWE titles to wear," WWE officials said in a statement.

...During the show, cameras showed the Packers players on the big screen in the front row, and then they, and the audience took in the rest of the show.

The episode that was taped Tuesday is scheduled to air on Friday on the Syfy network.

More, from the Appleton Post-Crescent:
The taping of “Friday Night SmackDown” featured a main event of superstars Edge and Dolph Ziggler battling for the World Heavyweight Title, with Ziggler ally Vickie Guerrero as the guest referee. Referee Guerrero had no intention of letting Edge successfully defend his the title, and not coincidentally wound up injured outside of the ring as Edge was ready for a match-ending pin.

Who came to the rescue? Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews. Matthews, sporting the stripes of a referee, ran down the ramp, slid into the ring as Edge pinned Ziggler and gave the three-count.

After Matthews did his work to end the main event, he invited other Green Bay Packers into the ring to celebrate, including tight end Tom Crabtree, tackle Bryan Bulaga, quarterback Graham Harrell and center Scott Wells. The players – along with Edge – then hoisted their championship belts into the air as chants of “Go Pack Go” roared from the crowd.

“Everyone in this ring is a world champion,” Edge told the crowd, of which an outstanding majority chose Packer jerseys and cheeseheads over WWE fan attire.

"Go Pack Go" chants erupted several times throughout the night, no matter what was happening in or out of the ring. At one point, during the opening segment, a WWE superstar was forced to pause during a speech in order to let the crowd's pro-Packers chants recede.
