Tom Barrett: Super Bowl, White House

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Democrat, will be watching the Super Bowl at the White House with Obama.

Is that his consolation prize for running for governor when he really didn't want to?

From the Boston Herald:

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and his son will be watching the Super Bowl on Sunday at the White House.

According to a news release from Barrett’s office, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama invited the Democrat and his son Tommy and they accepted accepted.

Barrett says it will be particularly satisfying to watch the Packers win with "the Bear’s Fan-in-Chief."

Barrett plans to bring Usinger’s Famous Sausage "Touchdown Box" and a Klement’s Sausage Gourmet Gift Package as gifts.

If Barrett brings sausage, Michelle will probably confiscate it and promptly dispose of it. Too high in fat and salt.

I wonder who's paying for Barrett and son to go to the White House.

Milwaukee taxpayers?

Federal taxpayers?

Here's the press release from Barrett's office:
