Regardless of whether a Democrat or a Republican is in office, stand-up comics have traditionally joked about the president.
For example, for decades, Bob Hope drew laughs at the expense of both Democrat and Republican presidents.
But since Obama was elected, comedians have generally given Obama a pass. He hasn't been subjected to the same level of ridicule as past presidents, even though he certainly deserves it.
In the tradition of past great stand-up comics, Jimmy Fallon did some Obama jokes in his Wednesday monologue.
JIMMY FALLON: During a fundraiser in New York last night, President Obama said he was, quote, 'in a New York state of mind.' Of course in a year, he might be singing that other Billy Joel song, 'Movin' Out.'
JIMMY FALLON: There's a new study that found that quitting smoking can actually improve your memory, which explains why President Obama is finally starting to remember those campaign promises he made.
On Thursday, Fallon got more laughs thanks to Obama:
JIMMY FALLON: I heard that yesterday President Obama arrived 25 minutes late for a luncheon at the UN. In fact, he was so late he had to sit next to Biden at the kids' table.
JIMMY FALLON: This is cool. First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on the season premiere of Extreme Home Makeover on Sunday. The good news is she'll be refurbishing a house for a new family to move into. The bad news is it's the White House.
