Packers Pregame v. Obama Speech, Milwaukee

UPDATE, September 7, 2011: NBC details plans for Packers-Saints pregame coverage

Four different NBC Universal cable channels - Versus, USA, Syfy, and G4 - as well as the NFL Network will provide coverage of the Green Bay Packers-New Orleans Saints pregame show at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The pregame coverage was scheduled to be on NBC but is now being pre-empted due to President Barack Obama's speech to Congress. Obama's speech is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

NBC will join NFL Kickoff 2011 at Lambeau Field in progress once its coverage of Obama's speech is over. At that point, Versus, USA, Syfy and G4 will resume their coverage. The NFL Network will carry the pregame coverage in its entirety.

Obama's speech is not expected to conflict in any way with the game, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. from Lambeau Field.

Locally, WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) will carry NBC's pregame coverage of the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints at 6 p.m. instead of airing Obama's speech.

WTMJ-TV, (aka Today's TMJ4), won't air Obama's jobs speech.

Why?

It was a no-brainer.

NO ONE IN PACKERLAND CARES ABOUT OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN POSTURING AND BLABBERING.

Actually, anyone interested in watching Obama can view the speech on WTMJ's digital Channel 4.2 or on cable.

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) will carry local news at 6 p.m. on Thursday, and NBC's pre-game coverage of the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints at 6:30 p.m. instead of airing President Obama's jobs speech, the station announced Tuesday.

The station will air NBC's coverage of the speech, scheduled for 6 p.m., on it's digital Channel 4.2, and on Channel 999 on Time Warner Cable.

The only local channel whose program grid currently shows that it will be carrying the speech is WISN-TV (Channel 12).

The road to Super Bowl XLVI begins for the Packers on Thursday. It's not the kickoff to Obama's 2012 campaign.

Sorry, Obama.

GO PACK GO!
