President George W. Bush took part in the ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York.
During the memorial at Ground Zero, President Bush read from a letter President Abraham Lincoln wrote to a widow, the mother of five sons killed in the Civil War.
When he began to read, the crowd cheered and applauded the former President - an appropriate expression of gratitude.
