Update, September 22, 2011: "We The People" goes live today.
_______________
The White House wants YOU to sign a petition.
Yeah, that's the solution to the nation's problems.
Team Obama is launching a new site, "We The People."
Listen to Macon Phillips, Director, Office of Digital Strategy:
("Office of Digital Strategy"? This sounds like a campaign tool, not the workings of the executive branch of the U.S. government.)
MACON PHILLIPS: Americans have always used petitions to organize around issues they care about. Now, thanks to the Internet, they're even more popular, a lot more popular. So popular, in fact, that we've come up with a better way to engage this activity online.
That's why 'We The People' matters to you. It's an official way to make your voice heard in our government.
This is so lame.
The White House appears to want to control online political discourse and organization.
This is the "official" place to make your voice heard.
Really?
NO THANKS!

I have to concur.... IF you have 30,000 signatures, THEN they will... REVIEW and ANSWER the petition..... sounds like...Let's play cards and you show me yours so I know how to bet. Has anyone ever gotten anything in response (a REVIEW and ANSWER)from a politician that wasn't a contrite "Thank you for your support" when it was contrary to the way THEY wanted to do things with absolutely no addressing of your issue, let alone working towards a solution to the issue?
Once a community organizer, always a community organizer.
