Occupy Philadelphia - RAPE

The Occupy protests are nothing like the Tea Party rallies. NOTHING.

No one was raped or murdered at a Tea Party event.

From WPVI:

A man is under arrest, and police are processing him for sexually assaulting a woman at the Occupy Philly camp near City Hall Saturday night.

The rape occurred around 7:45pm Saturday night, and that the woman walked to a nearby pay phone and called 911.

Police say the victim is a 23-year-old woman from Atlantic City, and the alleged rapist is a 50-year-old man who has reportedly been arrested a number of times for a string of robberies in Michigan.

Video.

These Occupy encampments are a scourge on our society.

Peace and love - no. Rape and murder - yes.

Philadelphia Mayor Nutter reacts:

Mayor Nutter had a somber tone as he talked with reporters Sunday afternoon regarding the status of the Occupy Philadelphia protests in Dilworth Plaza.

The mayor says that the situation is deteriorating quickly and there are extreme concerns about public health and sanitation.

"Occupy Philadelphia has changed. We're seeing serious health and safety issues play out on almost a daily basis," said Mayor Nutter.

Questions of safety have often been raised lately.

Saturday evening a woman reported being sexually assaulted near the protest compound.

Police say the victim, a 23-year-old woman from Atlantic City dialed 911.

The alleged rapist, a 50-year-old man from Michigan, who recently joined the protests, was arrested a short time later.

While safety is a concern, Mayor Nutter says that it is difficult to negotiate with protest leadership because it is constantly changing.

"Occupy Philadelphia is fractured with internal disagreements and disputes. The people have changed and their intentions have changed, and all of this is not good for Philadelphia," he said.

Are Obama and the other Leftists who embraced the Occupiers ashamed yet? Are the celebrities in solidarity with the Occupiers embarrassed? Are Crosby, Stills and Nash wishing they hadn't done their lame concert?

These camps have become dens of violence and dysfunction.

It's outrageous that city officials are being as tolerant as they are. They are being derelict in their duty to keep the public safe. It's really inexcusable.

What a disgrace!

Your use of this crime to criticize the Occupy Movement is disingenuous at best. The perpetrator of this crime is obviously a career criminal, who has been arrested a number of times for a string of robberies in Michigan. I doubt very much, that he was there to protest. It is much more likely that he was there to hide out and look for victims. To imply that he is somehow representative of the movement is ridiculous.

Polarizing articles like this will not fix the stalemate that the right and the left are stuck in today. Neither side has enough power to run roughshod over the other. Misstating the facts will only convince those that are already convinced. Like it or not, consensus is the only way to move forward.

Really?

Are the protesters in this video actually "career criminals"?

Are these Occupiers representative of the movement? Yes? No?

Anyone paying attention has seen the ugliness, the anti-Semitism, the filth, and yes, crime on display at the various occupations.

First and foremost, I criticize the Occupy Movemenet for its assault on capitalism and its entitlement mentality.

I am the 99 percent.
