This is so strange.
This morning, out of nowhere, I was thinking about The Monkees. I was wondering how Peter Tork is doing, knowing that he's been battling cancer for quite some time.
I thought of how The Monkees (minus one, Michael Nesmith) brought their reunion tour to Milwaukee last summer on Saturday, July 23, during Festa Italiana.
Then this, a few hours later, from TMZ:
A person who was with Davy this morning has told Sheriff's detectives ... the singer began to complain that he was not feeling well and was having trouble breathing. Paramedics were called and Jones was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

9:55 AM PST -- A rep for Davy tells TMZ the singer died from a heart attack this morning.
-----------------------------------
Davy Jones -- lead singer of The Monkees -- has died ... TMZ has learned.
An official from the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Florida confirmed with TMZ they received a call from Martin Memorial Hospital informing them that Jones had passed away.
Jones is survived by his wife Jessica and 4 daughters from previous marriages. He was 66-years-old.
Jones joined The Monkees in 1965 ... along with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork ... and together they churned out a bunch of hits including, "Daydream Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer."
Life is so short.

Davy Jones' last performance was February 19, 2012, in Oklahoma.
Rest in Peace, Davy.

I, too was so sorry to hear about this. Davy will always hold a special place in my heart...as will all the Monkees. But Davy Jones WAS Davy Jones after all. (Be still, my adolescent heart...)
