Rick Santorum and Jay Leno (Video)

Rick Santorum was Jay Leno's guest on Tuesday's Tonight Show.

Leno was rude and combative throughout the interview. There were no pleasantries, no small talk on Leno's part. Leno didn't say a word about Santorum's daughter, Bella.

In short, Leno was a real jerk.

It was very unprofessional of Leno to treat Santorum with such disrespect.

Leno should not have had Santorum on his show if he couldn't control himself and conduct himself in a reasonably gracious manner.

I really am annoyed by Leno and his political biases.

What drives me nuts is the way Leno always complains about Republicans talking about social issues, rather than the economy or defense. He has repeatedly said Republicans focus on unimportant issues now.

He's dead wrong about that. The Leftists want to focus on that stuff, and dogs on the roof of the car, etc. Republicans, like Mitt Romney, do want to talk about the economy and Obama's horrific policies.

Leno got Santorum to bash RomneyCare. It wasn't cool for Santorum to fail to steer clear of criticizing Romney. He should have known better than to fall into that trap. When Santorum spoke about repealing ObamaCare and Romney wanting to do that, Leno talked about people "dying in an alley" without it. Santorum did counter that no one has been dying in an alley for lack of health care in this country.

Liberal crap.

The show is not entertaining anymore. Way too much hostility toward conservatives.

This, however, is kind of entertaining:

The video clip of Santorum discussing contraception posted on the NBC website has a funny caption.

Here's the screen shot, in case the dolts at NBC recognize their mistake and correct it.

The clip is about CONTRACEPTION, not conception.

I'm confused as to how you think Leno was being rude and abusive. What I saw and heard were two people with very different views, debating and talking about their own personal stances. Santorum was running for the highest office in the country, and people should hear what he's all about. If a guy is going to run for this powerful job, don't you think he should have to defend his beliefs to critics/voters/etc? Some agree with his views while others see him as archaic. And Leno has never been funny.

Have you seen Leno interview Leftists or John McCain?

He doesn't debate them. He doesn't respond with snide remarks. He doesn't attempt to demean or mock.

The Tonight Show is supposed to be entertaining. Leno isn't David Gregory. He wasn't doing a "news" interview.

Clearly, Leno has a political agenda that he's putting ahead of his role as entertainer.

SO DONT WATCH THE SHOW!!! Did you see the part where Santorum alienated all gay couples? Nothing I watched was "rude and abusive". Stop being so sensitive. People are going to disagree but nothing about that interview was wrong. Santorum has his beliefs and Jay has his. He was doing his job. I guess the audience was totally "rude and abusive" when they all clapped for the sensible points that Jay was making. Santorum was offered a chance to be on the show and decided to appear. You cant tell me that 5 minutes of research wouldnt have told him where Jay was going to go with the questions. Much more "rude and abusive" behavior is displayed at every single debate and in every campaign add, do you have no problems with those?

You do realize I never wrote "rude and abusive" in my post. You're getting that from Mr_Miskatonic, not me.

Leno was rude to his guest. I said he was combative.

I would not characterize Leno's treatment of Santorum as abusive.

I believe on an entertainment talk show hosts should treat their guests with some respect. What's the purpose of Leno's show? To entertain? Guess not.

On news talk shows, I also think hosts should be civil and maintain a modicum of respect.

I prefer positive campaign ads. The negative stuff doesn't work with me.
