Tom Barrett: Backward

I've seen this ad from the Republican Governors Association running quite a bit.

RGA Ad: Tom Barrett would take Wisconsin Backwards

“Irresponsible tax-and-spend policies like the ones Tom Barrett has deployed as mayor of Milwaukee resulted in both higher taxes and a $3.6 billion budget deficit at the state level before Governor Walker took office,” said RGA Executive Director Phil Cox. “Thanks to Governor Walker’s leadership, the state budget’s balanced, property taxes are lower and taxpayers have saved more than $1 billion.”

“Scott Walker has Wisconsin moving in the right direction, but Tom Barrett wants to take the state back to the days of broken budgets and tax increases,” Cox said. “Wisconsin needs to continue the tremendous progress it has made since Governor Walker was sworn in.”

There's no question that Barrett would be a disaster as governor. He would undermine and undo all the progress Governor Walker has made.

Each time I see the ad and hear that Barrett as governor would be a backward step for Wisconsin, I think of the fact that Barrett would be worse than just going backward.

Look what has happened to Milwaukee under Barrett's leadership. Broken budgets and tax increases are just a couple of Barrett's "accomplishments."

Barrett's record is abysmal. His city is an absolute mess. Putting him in charge of the state would be crazy.

Take a good look at Milwaukee.
