Tom Barrett: Public Safety Priority

If Tom Barrett, mayor of Milwaukee, truly has made public safety a priority in his tenure in office, then he has failed miserably.

Sadly, Milwaukee continues to decay and decline.

I've seen what's happening in the neighborhoods. Some are unrecognizable. The quality of life in the city has changed.

It doesn't have to be that way.

I know Police Chief Ed Flynn is a proponent of the "Broken Windows" theory.

The brave and committed men and women of the Milwaukee Police Department face tremendous challenges in the city. They do a remarkable job, given the circumstances.

But leadership on the part of Mayor Tom Barrett is sorely lacking.

Public safety a priority for Barrett?

It sure doesn't look it it.

I think Milwaukee can be saved, with the right leadership.

I love the city. That's why it hurts so much to see what has happened since Barrett has been in charge.
