Barrett Slapped (Video)

This incident sums up the nature of supporters of the recall movement.

It shouldn't be shocking. These people are nuts. They've been spiraling out of control for over a year.

Tom Barrett's failed bid to oust Governor Scott Walker didn't end with a whimper. It ended with a violent outburst.

After Barrett conceded to Governor Walker, for the second time in less than two years, he talked with supporters.

One supporter was very angry with Barrett. She believed he conceded the race too early. So, she did what I'd expect a crazed Leftist to do. She slapped him in the face.

From the Washington Post:

12 News' Terry Sater just spoke to the mayor about the 'slap.' Barrett said the woman asked if she could slap him for conceding. He said he'd rather she hug him. So he leaned down.. and got the slap.

Slater reported to his news desk:

"A woman who had been very angry that the mayor had conceded prior to the polls…all the votes being counted, rather, she was upset with the mayor…she came up and she slapped him and said, ‘How dare you concede, while there are people still trying to vote inside the Ziegler building.’"

"So the polls closed at 8, but there were still people inside the buildings who hadn’t had a chance to vote, so legally they could still vote. So by 8’o clock, it was still an hour and a half later and people are still trying to cast their ballots."

"This woman is upset about that, and she slapped the mayor. He seemed very stunned by the fact that she had done that. Obviously, some of the passion and disappointment, tonight, coming out through that one woman’s hand and her temper."

"The mayor just simply walked away after that, but she was very upset…"

I've never seen anything like this before.

The woman went way over the line.

No one should be slapped like that. It's just terrible.

Unfortunately, Barrett chose to get into bed with these people. He chose to act like them. He chose to throw his integrity away. He chose to lie and run a sleazy campaign.

Obviously, Barrett didn't end the "civil war." He allied himself with the people who started the insanity. One of them turned on him. That shouldn't be a surprise.

Throughout his campaign, Barrett conducted himself in a reprehensible fashion. He acted like the loons. He represented them well.

Big mistake. He really damaged his reputation.

Barrett is a loser in so many ways. He lost far more than an election. That realization should hit him like a slap in the face.

Why wasn't she arrested?

I think Barrett was too humiliated to press charges.

I guess she expected Barrett to do what Gore famously did in 2000: tamper with ballots and attempt to change the rules so the opponent's votes don't count and blank ballots count as his own, in order to steal the election.

Although Barrett was on the wrong side in this fight, and typically fights against the interest of workers and taxpayers and citizens, there is some class in him, as he conceded.

It was clear Walker had won by such an enormous margin that Barrett really didn't have a choice but to concede.

Although the Dems had 400 lawyers waiting to pounce, they knew they couldn't flip the election, not with Walker's vote total.

At least Barrett's concession speech wasn't the disgrace that Mahlon Mitchell's was.
