Obama: Business Owners Not Responsible for Success

Obama doesn't believe in the individual.

If an individual worked to build a successful business, that individual OWES the government.

OBAMA: If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

What a statement!

This guy doesn't sound like an American. His vision of America is so different. Obama doesn't want us to be free. He wants us to be under the government's control. Even our hard work and achievements don't really belong to us.

Video.

Transcript, from the White House
OBAMA: We created 23 million new jobs, turned a deficit into a surplus, and rich people did just fine. We created a lot of millionaires.

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -- look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That’s how we funded the GI Bill. That’s how we created the middle class. That’s how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That’s how we invented the Internet. That’s how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that’s the reason I’m running for President -- because I still believe in that idea. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together.

Of course, we work together. There are fire departments and countless groups organized to build things and accomplish goals.

Duh.

But the notion that an individual should not take credit for one's success is nuts.

I completely disagree with Obama's statement: "If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Where does Obama get off stripping away personal achievement like that?

It's an attack on freedom.

I get the feeling Obama finds freedom threatening.

Obama reminds me of an insecure dictator, trying to convince the people that they are powerless without him.

"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back." Then the absolute LAST place they should 'give' is to the government!! If you want to GIVE back then donate that money to private charities/organizations, food banks, businesses, hospitals, churches, universities, etc... or start your own! DO NOT throw that money away by lining the pockets of politicians and union thugs. Of course that requires work on the individuals part in finding those areas where you feel your money is most needed as opposed to just letting the government tell you how compassionate they will be with your money. Obama would have the Good Samaritan pass by the fallen man saying to himself that he had 'given back' to the government. He could let the authorities know of the dying man so that those paid to handle such things could have gone to him. 'Giving back' shouldn't involve any real effort on one's part.
Seriously, I don't know how much more of this insufferable little man I can stand.

"I do not believe that the power and duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit. The friendliness and charity of our countrymen can always be relied upon to relieve their fellow-citizens in misfortune. Federal aid... encourages the expectation of paternal care on the part of the Government and WEAKENS THE STURDINESS OF OUR NATIONAL CHARACTER, while it PREVENTS the indulgence among our people of that KINDLY SENTIMENT AND CONDUCT WHICH STRENGTHENS the bonds of a common brotherhood."
~President Grover Cleveland (D) 1887 (caps mine)

As you can tell, Obama really pushed my button with his evil rhetoric on this one! I love this quote from Glenn Beck, "..when individuals personally sacrifice to help each other, it not only makes us better people, it makes us a better country. It forces us to notice need instead of simply hiring corrupt politicians to notice it only when they can exploit, publicize, or politicize it."
Okay.. trying to step down from my soapbox!

In 2008, we didn't know Obama.

Now, we REALLY know what he believes.

He doesn't think very highly of us at all.

He degrades us. He wants to transform all that's good about our country. He wants to strip us of our freedom. He has no respect for the individual.

Obama only sees the masses as groups to be exploited and tapped for his personal political gain.

I've never heard an American president speak in such a divisive manner and with such disdain for our liberty.

Obama just wants business owners to provide more handouts to "his" people through the government that they rely on and to him also since he is part of the government. But insulting people in the process is not going to get him his way. Also it sounded like he was projecting his own success which the govt handed to him because of affirmative action and his speech would only make sense if he was talking to his own fellow black Americans. White people know we have gotten the short end of the stick and have to do it on our own. Obama is the one who is not smart.

Actually, he sounds like a Christian, a follower of Jesus who believes in the value of our human community and who respects the work of his ancestors.

Did Mitt Romney get rich on his own or did his (completely politically opposite) father's wealth make that all possible (exclusive education, start in business)? Didn't the America which built all the roads which enabled people to buy cars make George Romney's wealth possible? (George Romney surely thought so, why he deliberately overpaid his taxes.)

Obama doesn't sound like a Christian who believes in the "value of our human community."

Obama believes in killing the weak and vulnerable, the unborn. Obama even believes in killing babies who survived botched abortions.

No, definitely not a follower of Jesus.

Obama only values what he believes will contribute to his personal political gain.

He's willing to demean entrepreneurs and spit on the value of individual creativity and hard work.

And remember, the government didn't build any roads and bridges. The American people, the taxpayers, did.

Furthermore, American people, employed by business owners, were able to buy cars because entrepreneurs created ways to produce them in a manner that made them affordable.

Christianity doesn't promote a free ride.
