Clint Eastwood - Republican Convention (Video)

Clint Eastwood is an icon of American film.

As presumed, Eastwood was the mystery speaker on the last night of the Republican National Convention.

He shared the stage with Obama. Well, actually, it was an empty chair. Very fitting, but still rather unusual.

Eastwood's remarks were humorous. He provided a little Hollywood star power and performed.

Was it weird? Yes. Weird gets attention. Weird gets talked about.

His message, while simple, was serious. It wasn't weird.

"When somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go."

And there you have it.

Video of Eastwood's remarks:

Here's the transcript of Eastwood's performance/speech/I don't know what.

Loved it. Mr. Eastwood got down to the basics. His performance was devoid of political focus grouped BS. He connected.

Odd. Yes it was odd, but this...this right here is good stuff. Important stuff.

"You, we — we own this country. We — we own it. It is not you owning it, and not politicians owning it. Politicians are employees of ours. And — so — they are just going to come around and beg for votes every few years. It is the same old deal. But I just think it is important that you realize , that you’re the best in the world. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican or whether you’re libertarian or whatever, you are the best. And we should not ever forget that. And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go."

You know if a Hollywood lib did something similar at the Dem convention, the same people now criticizing Eastwood and the Republicans would be calling the bit brilliant.

Eastwood had an important message and he delivered it - Obama is a bad president and we need a change, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Effective? Very.

If you don't mind I'd like to add one of my favorite scenes from Clint's movies. It has an important life lesson that we should all heed:
