What's going on in Milwaukee?

There has been a rash of deadly shootings recently.

I don't think this outbreak of violence is receiving enough attention.

Has Mayor Tom Barrett commented on the crime? No? I guess he's too busy campaigning for Tammy Baldwin and Obama. He can't let BEING THE MAYOR cut into his campaign activities. Sending out emails and tweeting crap takes priority.

The media are still dwelling on the Marquette University Law School poll. Every night, we hear that Obama is up by 14 points and Thompson is down by 9. No time left to devote adequate attention to violence plaguing the city.

Over the weekend, five people were shot at a Milwaukee park.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

One 22-year-old man is dead and four other people injured after a shooting at a Milwaukee park.

Police say all five of the victims were shot. The four who were injured are expected to survive. They range in age from 15 to 23 years old.

The shooting happened Saturday night at Atkinson Park on the city's north side. Police say it might have been prompted by an earlier argument at the park.
Last night, there was another shooting death in Milwaukee, inside Papa John's, this time on the city's south side, about a block away from St. Luke's Medical Center.

From WTAQ:

A man was shot to death overnight at a Papa John’s pizza restaurant in Milwaukee – and a suspect is in custody.

Police did not say if the victim worked at the restaurant, located in a strip mall on Milwaukee’s south side.

The shooting was reported just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

WTMJ-TV said police interviewed people nearby who were shopping at the adjacent Game Stop store for a just-released video game.
Video from FOX6 News:

Police say one man was shot in the chest and died at the scene. He is now identified as 24-year-old Joseph Griffin.

At this time, investigators say it appears the shooting was unintentional. Apparently the manager of the store was closing up, let Griffin in to show him a gun, and it went off.

Authorities say they have recovered the gun used in the shooting and one person is now in custody in connection with the shooting.
That sounds weird.

Forget it, Jake. It's Milwaukee
