Miss Utah Marissa Powell

Miss Utah is taking a lot of heat today for stumbling badly during last night's Miss USA competition when she tried to answer a question about women earning less than men.

Very painful.

However, she sounds no worse than your average Leftist, making no sense.

I think Miss Utah should be cut some slack. It seems like it was less about stupidity and more about having one of those "deer in the headlight" moments, being unable to get her thoughts together.

The question was silly.

"A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does this say about society?"

She had thirty seconds to analyze "society."

It's easy to come up with an answer when you're not on a stage and you're under no pressure. Still, given the time constraints, the answer is guaranteed to be inadequate.

Thanks to YouTube, a lot more people are going to see her awkward response than ever would have seen it in the past.

YouTube is kind of a curse.
