Supposedly intelligent people do some incredibly stupid things on Twitter.
Geraldo Rivera did something incredibly stupid on Saturday night, technically in the wee small hours of Sunday morning.
Geraldo decided to show the world his body, way too much of his body, by posting a bizarre photo of himself on Twitter.
He's obviously proud of his 70-year-old physique.
Here is the now infamous tweet:
Geraldo deleted it, but alas, there's no such thing as deleting once it's been posted.
The caption:
70 is the new 50 (Erica and family are going to be so pissed…but at my age…)This tweet prompted Greg Gutfeld to unleash a string of hilarious tweets in response.
For example:
It's official @GeraldoRivera is running for mayor!

This is the best thing to happen to twitter ever. Screw you royal baby watch. Thank you @GeraldoRivera

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Geraldo's towel," says the president of Bed Bath and Beyond

Yesterday afternoon, Geraldo tried to undo the damage:
Note to self: no tweeting after 1am

That's lame.
The late hour is no excuse.
Nothing can undo Geraldo's Twitter creepy self portrait.
We saw the creepy photo. We saw his creepy exhibitionism. We saw his creepy ego run amok.
The question: Why did Geraldo do that?
I wonder how many shots he took before he arrived at THE shot.
The carefully arranged towel... it makes my skin crawl.
It's weird to take a photo like that at all. It's weirder to share it with the WORLD.
What an incredible lapse in judgment! Such stupidity!
Geraldo is extremely proud of his body. I guess he wanted us to be extremely impressed.
I'm not impressed. It was entirely inappropriate.
Seventy, in Geraldo's case, isn't the new 50. It's the new 15.
