Oprah Winfrey was on Jimmy Kimmel's show Wednesday night.
Before Oprah appeared, there was a "Lie Witness News" segment about Oprah's performance in her new movie. Those bits are always pretty funny, showing people lying through their teeth.
Next came Oprah.
During the interview, I thought maybe Oprah would say something about the media firestorm surrounding her accusations of racism she claims she encountered at a shop in Switzerland. I knew Oprah was there to plug her movie, but there was a massive elephant in the room.
Complete silence on the topic would be so awkward.
As it turns out, it was very awkward.
Not one word about the Swiss incident was uttered by Oprah or Kimmel. No doubt, that was determined before the interview.
Instead, Oprah only yapped about her garden and her movie. There was a clip, of course. And she gave away a car to a woman in the audience.
It was a Ford Fusion plug-in electric hybrid. Coincidently, that car sells starting at about $38,700, roughly the price of the purse Oprah claims the clerk in the Swiss boutique refused to show her.
