Congratulations to Erin Hamlin!
She accomplished what no American athlete, male or female, has ever done at the winter olympics. She won a medal in singles luge.
From CBS Sports:
With a final run of 50.348 Tuesday evening, Erin Hamlin made history in singles luge.
She became the first American to ever medal in the event in the Olympics -- for men and women -- finishing in 3:21.145 to take bronze for the United States.
...For Hamlin, who won the 2009 World Championships, this was a culmination of a big-time comeback. She took No. 16 in Vancouver and did not win any events in World Cup racing in 2013.
