Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin: 'Conscious Uncoupling'

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced today that they are separating, except they didn't call it that.

The couple announced that they are engaged in a "conscious uncoupling."

Their "uncoupling" sounds more permanent than separation, since they will "remain separate."

From the Los Angeles Times:

The pair has decided to separate after more than 10 years of marriage, they announced Tuesday on Paltrow's GOOP lifestyle site in a post titled "Conscious Uncoupling."

"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate," the pair wrote. "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate."
"Conscious uncoupling."

I don't think that term will catch on, certainly not among normal people.
