Eighty-year-old billionaire Donald Sterling has been banned for life by the NBA.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday Clippers owner Donald Sterling will be suspended for life and fined $2.5 million in response to the racist remarks he allegedly made in a recorded audio clip.

Silver spoke to the press at 11 a.m. news conference from New York, stating he will “do everything in my power” to force the sale of the Clippers.

“The hateful opinions voiced by that man are those of Mr. Sterling. The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage,” Silver said. “I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers association or the NBA. Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or decisions involving the team.”
Sterling can't go to any NBA games for the rest of his life, a 20-year sentence at most.

Oh, God! Cruel and unusual punishment!

He'll be pressured to sell the team. Oh, no! Sterling will be punished by pocketing roughly half a billion dollars. TORTURE!

I don't care what the NBA does. Sterling is a racist idiot, honored by the NAACP. Whatever.

I hope this little drama can be put aside and we can focus on things that really matter, like the blowing up of our health care system by the Obama administration, Obama's disastrous handling of the economy, Obama's attack on the Constitution, his assault on the First Amendment, specifically religious liberty, and the catastrophic screw-up of American foreign policy by Team Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.

The Sterling distraction hopefully is over.
