Abortion and Punishment, Trump and Obama

Donald Trump said he misspoke during a discussion with pro-abortion proponent Chris Matthews.

In a new interview with Fox News, Donald Trump says he “misspoke” the other day when he initially said women who would get an abortion after abortion becomes illegal again should be “punished.” Trump blames a question from pro-abortion MSNBC host Chris Matthews on a “convoluted” issue for his misspeaking.

“If in fact abortion is outlawed, the person performing the abortion, the doctor or who it may be is responsible — not the woman is responsible. I have the same stance as Ronald Reagan, I’ve had it from the beginning … It could be that I misspoke but this was a long, convoluted subject.”

Trump's remarks got a lot of attention last week.

Obama has made some notable remarks about punishment and abortion, too.

He, however, wasn't talking about punishing the mother for having her baby killed. Obama took the position that having a baby is a punishment.

Obama declared that if women, like his daughters, make a mistake, he doesn't "want them punished with a baby."

OBAMA: I've got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old. I'm gonna teach them first of all about values and morals. But, if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby.

Did Obama ever say he misspoke about calling a new life a punishment?

If he did, I missed it.

We must punish everyone involved in killing an unborn child, otherwise we cannot stop the killing. The argument, prevalent in this movement, that we must allow mothers and fathers to kill their children, I find absolutely baffling.

We must prohibit mothers killing by themselves, prohibit them from hiring criminal abortionists and prohibit the abortionist from doing the actual killing. This will provide the maximum possible legal protection for our children.

I think Trump stumbled onto something. If RW is turned over on the premise that it is murder to extinguish the unborn, then truly all involved would be guilty of premeditated murder. Consequently, those involved would be subject to prosecution to the full extent of the law. Capital punishment would apply.
