SNL 'Weekend Update': Military Redneck Trump Supporters

Saturday Night Live hit another new low during its "Weekend Update" segment.

"Co-anchor" Colin Jost delivered some disgraceful lines, referring to Bill Clinton's comment last Tuesday about Donald Trump's supporters being "rednecks."

COLIN JOST: It upset me when Bill Clinton came out and dismissed all Trump supporters as "basic rednecks," because after the election, when we go to war with Russia, the people we're going to ask to go and fight that war are the people you just called "basic rednecks."
That commentary received a few chuckles at most.

"Co-anchor" Michael Che followed with his own slam against the military. In effect, he concludes that Bill Clinton's statement is on the money.

MICHAEL CHE: And yeah, if we have a war, I don't want a bunch of snarky liberals out there fighting for me, with their good taste and skinny jeans. I want somebody that dresses like John Cena, listens to Nickelback, and has never met an Asian. That's who's gonna kick some ass. I'll call liberals when I want a pointed think piece.
So, liberals are intelligent with good taste and are savvy in terms of fashion.

Those likely to be in the military don't dress well, have poor taste in music, and have limited life experience.

It's disgusting that SNL would insult members of our military to boost support for Hillary and trash Trump.

Bill Clinton is the one who should be criticized for his remark. He's the jerk. Instead, these SNL Lefty elitists twist Clinton's offensive comment to mock our military members as backward rednecks.

Talk about snarky liberals!

I hope SNL and NBC get a lot of feedback on this.

How much time with military members? Che's comment(made on a satirical program) is spot on! I'm a liberal and I spent 8 years in the military. My guess is 6 out of 10 military members are basic rednecks who joined because they wanted to blow shit up. I never met anyone who "[didn't] read too good" or "just read [their] second book since 5th grade" or used racial slurs as general descriptors until I joined the Marine Corps(and I'm from Pennsylvania). At the same time, the staff of Slate.com would not be my first choice in standing up a platoon of door-kickers to go take back Mosul.
The military members you think are butt-hurt are laughing at themselves as are the staff of Slate.com. Nice try.

Meredith, I would bet that while (supposedly) you were a "soldier" you're rifle aim was about as horrendous as your political views. Liberals can argue social issues all day long but until they understand a country can't spend more than it produces, they might want to at least pretend they appreciate the Cons. who will save their butts, though under-equipped, in the brutal 21st Cent. battles that the fiscal misteps will bring on.

It's a comedy show!!! Cazzzmo, you're reinforcing the "didn't read too good" stereotype of Trump supporters here.
