I know that pro-abortion Leftists like to ignore science. They dismiss the reality of human development.
The timeline of gestation is no secret. We know the facts. But, the supposedly enlightened Leftists refuse to acknowledge the reality of a baby's growth, of scientific facts.
Out of pure selfishness or cold-heartedness, the pro-abortionists put blinders on when it comes to a developing baby.
Only the most self-centered individual could deny the humanity of the baby and consider the slaughter of an unborn baby to be a courageous act, something worthy of destigmatizing.
Lena Dunham said she wishes she had an abortion https://t.co/xwa3LdMNp9— TIME (@TIME) December 20, 2016
Lena Dunham wishes she had an abortion. I find that deplorable.
From Samantha Cooney, Motto - the Editors of TIME:
Lena Dunham is coming under fire for saying she wished she had an abortion.
The soundbite surfaced on the latest episode of her podcast Women of the Hour, where the Girls creator and star discussed women’s stories of abortion. Dunham recalled visiting a Planned Parenthood in Texas, where she was asked to share her own abortion story.
“I wanted to make it really clear to her that as much as I was going out and fighting for other women’s options, I myself had never had an abortion. And I realized then that even I was carrying within myself stigma around this issue. Even I, the woman who cares as much as anybody about a woman’s right to choose, felt it was important that people know that I was unblemished in this department,” Dunham said. “It was an important moment for me then to realize that I had internalized some of what society was throwing at us. And I had to put it in the garbage.”
But then, she added: “Now I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.”
While Dunham was trying to make a point about the stigma placed on abortion, her remark has sparked backlash from both sides of the issue.
Yes, Dunham was talking about the stigma of abortion, but she also said she believed that stigma belonged in the garbage. Her point was that she had internalized the stigma of abortion, blaming society for forcing that notion on her. She was rejecting it and said she wished she had an abortion.
Cooney did some selective editing in her story, choosing not to report Dunham's complete remarks.
From NewsBusters:
“So many people I love – my mother, my best friends – have had to have abortions for all kinds of reasons,” Dunham said. “I feel so proud of them for their bravery, for their self-knowledge, and it was a really important moment for me then to realize I had internalized some of what society was throwing at us and I had to put it in the garbage.”Dunham's mother had an abortion. I wonder if Dunham ever thinks about her sibling that her mother didn't allow to be born.
To do that, Dunham concluded: “Now I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.”
She's proud of her mother and her best friends for having had abortions. She considers them brave and doesn't believe there should be any social stigma.
Dunham wishes she could have an abortion as part of her life experience, that it would be a good thing.
That is truly twisted.
Cooney concludes:
...For anti-abortion advocates, the comment was seen as an affront to their believe that fetuses are life. For pro-abortion rights advocates, the comment struck a nerve because it epitomized Dunham’s privilege while ignoring a number of facets of the issue — including the very real emotional consequences that often come with making the decision to end a pregnancy and the fact that legal and financial barriers often make it impossible for women seeking abortions to get one at all. This is what bothers me: "For anti-abortion advocates, the comment was seen as an affront to their believe [sic] that fetuses are life."
Of course, a fetus is life. Abortion kills that life. That's not a belief. That's reality. It's not up for debate. The fetus is alive, with a beating heart in the first trimester.
SCIENCE.
Leftists are always complaining that conservatives ignore science, or are too stupid to grasp it. When it comes to fetal development, Dunham and others completely dismiss the facts of the baby's growth.
Pro-abortion advocates should at least be honest and show respect for science. If Dunham is going to wish she had an abortion, then she should admit what that abortion entails. It is killing a human life, something Dunham wishes she had done, just like her mother and her best friends.
I cannot celebrate the right to kill. Removing the stigma from killing an innocent unborn baby is not the direction that science is taking us.
leftist and pro-abortion advocate Seth MacFarlane believes in science.
20 years ago today, we lost the great scientist and educator Carl Sagan. Let's keep his legacy alive with continued respect for science.— Seth MacFarlane (@SethMacFarlane) December 21, 2016
Apparently, when it comes to fetal development, science should not be respected. That's the only way for abortion advocates to deem the intentional ending of a human life as a socially acceptable choice.
