David Bowie Sweep - Five Grammys

David Bowie was nominated for five Grammys. He won all five.

Bowie had never received a Grammy for an album he released, before last night.

From EW:

Heading into Grammys night, Bowie had received just one competitive trophy, for Best Music Video in 1985. (He had also been awarded a lifetime achievement honor in 2006.)

If you watched the Grammys, you only saw David Bowie receive the Best Rock Song. That was the only category to be part of the televised program. Worse, Best Rock Song was accepted by the presenters. It was very disappointing that no one was allowed to accept on his behalf, especially considering the other four categories were not shown to television viewers.

Here's video of Donny McCaslin's acceptance speech for the Grammy for Best Rock Performance:

I understand that there are so many categories that it would be impossible to televise them all. However, in previous years, before commercial breaks other winners were at least listed and given a little screen time and attention. I don't know why the Grammys decided to drop that. Yes, it takes time, but the other awards are no less important than those chosen for the broadcast.
