Eagles' Political Stunt, Trump Boycott

From Politico:

Last week, the Eagles submitted 81 names of players and other personnel who were planning to visit the White House, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. The team was "full steam ahead," another administration official said, for an event that had been in the works since February.

But on Monday, the White House was informed that the delegation had been reduced to just two or three players, the owner, and the team's beloved mascot, Swoop.

...But things started to fall apart on Friday, when the team suggested alternate dates because players were dropping out of Tuesday's ceremony. But the suggested dates were seen, internally, as an attempt to get out of a photo-op with President Donald Trump - all of the new dates proposed were during the period when Trump is scheduled to travel to Singapore to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jung Un.

"Finally, the president said it was BS," the second official said.

On Monday evening, Trump canceled the event altogether, citing his long-running feud with the NFL over players who have chosen to kneel during the national anthem in protest of racism and police violence.
This is awful.

The Philadelphia Eagles behaved terribly, dropping out at the last minute.

It certainly appears the plan was to humiliate the president. That's not OK.

What idiots to suggest new dates, when Trump would be out of the country!

...On Tuesday morning, the NFL Players Association said in a statement posted to Twitter: "Our union is disappointed in the decision by the White House to disinvite players from the Philadelphia Eagles from being recognized and celebrated by all Americans for their accomplishment. This decision by the White House has led to the cancellation of several player-led community service events for young people in the Washington, D.C. area. NFL players love their country, support our troops, give back to their communities and strive to make America a better place."
This union is a disgrace.

Why whine about the invitation to the White House being rescinded when the players weren't planning to attend?

They didn't want to be "recognized and celebrated by all Americans for their accomplishment." If they did, they would have gone to the White House.

Trump isn't the one being divisive. The NFL and the players are stoking division.

We know that NOTHING stopped the players from keeping their commitments to the charities and community service events. They decided not to go to the White House. What does that have to do with the other events?

If these NFL players truly love their country as they claim and want to give back to their communities, then they should have honored their commitments.

This boycott crap is really getting to be too much.

The Leftists/Democrats/Never Trumpers need to grow up. Their tantrum needs to stop. Their collective hissy fit is disgraceful.

These people continue to spit in the faces of the nearly 63 million Americans that voted Trump into office. They show no respect for the results of the 2016 election, no respect for the process.

The union representing the NFL players is telling me to go away.
