De Niro is getting a lot of attention for his remarks at the Tony Awards.
I was watching live. When he got to the microphone, his words were silenced. The next sound was the audience cheering. He spoke again, but silence aired. Then the audience gave him a standing ovation. Clearly, De Niro's little stunt was embraced.
The fact that none of De Niro's words were aired tells me CBS was ready to bleep him. It seems like it was not a surprise.
After De Niro's truly childish, political outburst, he then began his scripted remarks introducing Bruce Springsteen. He read the scripted text poorly.
Embarrassing.
Middle America is watching and not happy. Then again, it's doubtful that many were watching. But they will hear about it, see it on social media.
The Broadway community claims to be inclusive and healing.
I don't think so.
More video, apparently from the Australian broadcast:
Robert De Niro's hatred for Trump is one of the funniest things in the world 😂😂😂
