Mandela Barnes Lingerie Party

Mandela Barnes, Democrat candidate for Wisconsin's lieutenant governor, apparently likes parties and Victoria's Secret.

From the Associated Press:

Wisconsin Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Mandela Barnes was tagged as the co-host of a lingerie party in 2009 when he was 22, extending an online invitation that joked about “stimulus packages” and used derogatory slang to refer to people who would be turned away.

...“The theme of this 9-year-old party was immature,” Barnes said in an email comment Tuesday. “I am committed, as I have been throughout my time in public service, to gender equality, including closing the pay gap, expanding paid family leave, and protecting the rights of women to make their own health care decisions.”

In follow up text messages with The Associated Press on Wednesday, Barnes said he didn’t create the event or come up with the idea for the party.

“I was tagged as a host of an event on fb,” Barnes texted. “People get tagged/added as a co-host all the time.”

Barnes also said he didn’t remember if he attended the party or not.
No, people don't "get tagged/added as a co-host all the time" on Facebook.

Barnes doesn't remember if he attended the party, what he called "Pretty In Pink A Vicky Secret Affair."

That's kind of strange because it seems like it was a pretty big deal.

"CASH PRIZE AND VICTORIA'S SECRET GIFT BASKET* FOR THE GIRL GOIN' THE HARDEST IN HER VICKY'S!!!"

Will the press be digging around for more information on Barnes' lingerie party lifestyle?

I think Barnes needs to address this in more depth.
The Wisconsin Republican Party alerted The Associated Press to the invitation. Republican Party spokesman Alec Zimmerman said it showed that Barnes’ actions “don’t match his empty words and promises.” He condemned use of the word “ratchet” — slang for a person with no class — in describing women who would be turned away from the party.

“Tony Evers needs to immediately condemn the actions of his running mate because the people of Wisconsin deserve better,” Zimmerman said.

The Wisconsin Republican Party has not condemned President Donald Trump after he’s made numerous derogatory comments about women, including on Tuesday when he referred to porn actress Stormy Daniels as “Horseface.”

Barnes referenced the president’s tweet in his response.

“I won’t take lectures from a Republican Party whose standard bearer today called a woman ‘Horseface,’” Barnes said.
It's funny that Scott Bauer blames the Wisconsin Republican Party for the story. It's as if he's apologizing to the Democrats for covering it.

Instead of just relaying the facts about Barnes hosting a party that shamelessly objectified women, Bauer brings up President Trump and his tweet referring to Stormy Daniels as "Horseface."

Barnes refuses to take lectures from Republicans, citing Trump's treatment of women.

Wait, what?

We're talking about Barnes and his weird party, not Stormy Daniels.
...The invitation refers to past parties, promising that the one scheduled for Sept. 11, 2009, in Whitewater would be “even bigger and better than the last time!!!” The invitation said that 203 people went to the party and 381 were interested.

Cash prizes and a Victoria’s Secret gift basket were being offered “for the girl goin’ the hardest in her Vicky’s!!!” The post also said, “Somebody said its a recession, so if you the baddest, it may be a stimulus package for you!!!”

Referencing men who planned to attend, the invitation told men that security would be there “handin’ out free choke slams and sleeper holds!!!” But it goes on to say, “Its a Vicky’s Secret party, Cash prizes and a Victoria’s Secret gift basket were being offered “for the girl goin’ the hardest in her Vicky’s!!!” The post also said, “Somebody said its a recession, so if you the baddest, it may be a stimulus package for you!!!”

Referencing men who planned to attend, the invitation told men that security would be there “handin’ out free choke slams and sleeper holds!!!” But it goes on to say, “Its a Vicky’s Secret party, why would you wanna roll on the ground wit a dud anyway???”

This wasn't a one-time thing. There had been other "Vicky's" parties. So Barnes had an established pattern of immaturity?

"Somebody said its a recession, so if you the baddest, it may be a stimulus package for you!!!"

That's embarrassing.

It should be noted that the AP story inaccurately quotes the invitation as "why would you wanna roll on the ground wit a dud anyway???"

It's not "dud." It's "dude."

Is that sloppy reporting or intentional?

Either way, it's bad.

See the screenshots of Barnes' Facebook post of the party details here.

Remember all the outrage resulting from the allegation that Brett Kavanaugh once threw ice in a bar when he was a college student?

In this case, we have details of the way Barnes conducted himself.

So, where's all the criticism? Why aren't Leftists insisting Barnes' behavior disqualifies him to be the Democrat candidate for lieutenant governor and demanding he immediately step aside?

Barnes is a Democrat, so he gets a pass from the media and gets propped by his fellow Democrats.

Tony Evers needs to comment on his running mate's history with women.

Congratulations! First Google hit on this story that doesn't lead with Barnes's lame excuses.

If I'd ever been to such a party I think I'd remember it, unless I'd been to so many I couldn't recall this particular one.

And I'm still trying to figure out what, "It's somebody for everybody, just not here..." means. What could it be?
