Wisconsin Election - I Voted

Wisconsin's spring election is today.

It's a presidential primary.

Milwaukee has a mayoral election.

A seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court is on the ballot.

These are high profile races.

It's no surprise that the April 7 election comes amid Governor Tony Evers' coronavirus stay at home order.

I knew that I did not want to go to a polling place.

So, do you know what I did?

I requested an absentee ballot.

I received it.

I filled it out.

I mailed it.

I voted.

Done.

All Wisconsin citizens had the option of voting the way I did.

The decisions by the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the US Supreme Court didn't prevent anyone from doing what I did.

We all know what's going on. There's a pandemic. Our country is shut down. If you wanted to avoid going out to the polls, you could vote another way.

There was no voter suppression. Anyone wanting to vote, and legally eligible to do so, could vote.

Whining about not being able to vote is ridiculous. Whining about people dying because of the election being held today is ridiculous.

Are people dying because they're going out shopping to hoard food and toilet paper? Apparently, that's a risk a lot of people are willing to take. It's pretty much business as usual with the addition of following social distancing guidelines.

Reacting to the decisions by the courts, Evers said, "[T]housands will wake up and have to choose between exercising their right to vote and staying healthy and safe."

Well that must mean thousands of people are really, really stupid.

No one could possibly be caught off guard by this. There was a massive absentee vote effort. Anyone truly interested in voting knew what to do.

The fact is responsible people took steps to vote without endangering their health.

It was simple. It was safe.

Don't forget that Evers did an about-face when it comes to holding the election today, April 7.

Something made Evers change his mind. Could it be too many absentee ballot requests were coming from Republican areas?

TONY EVERS:
We want people to stay at home but democracy has to move forward. And we have a date. It’s enshrined in state law, and unless a judge intervenes we will have elections next week.

Democracy is moving forward.

As Evers said, we have a date. That's today.

We each have been given the choice to vote if we wanted and in the manner we wanted.
