Thousands took part in the festivities and enjoyed it so much they decided to do it every year. It came to be known as the Milwaukee Carnival, or the Midsummer Carnival - a distant predecessor of Summerfest. 3rd photo is Bloedel’s Jewelers on Plankinton.
