“Today, I’m calling on the attorney general to stand before the American people and explain why this was necessary in his words," Pence said during a speech at a North Carolina GOP Convention.
"Attorney General Merrick Garland, stop hiding behind the special counsel and stand before the American people and explain why this indictment went forward," he continued.
Pence referred to the indictment as "unprecedented," according to The Hill.
In a prior interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Pence said he was "deeply troubled" by the indictment.

Garland cannot be trusted.
