Alec Baldwin appeared on the show after killing a woman. I think Shane Gillis should be OK to host.
Again, controversy helps ratings.
It's also possible Lorne Michaels doesn't want the waning days of SNL to be remembered as a bastion of censorship and humorlessness. He might not be comfortable with that legacy, that comedy should be sacrificed to make room for political activism.
