This was not funny at all. It was a total bust. Kamala Harris can't even do a very brief video for a charity event without needing to call in an entertainer for assistance.
In this case, that assistance didn't help.

Hillary Calls Obama Muslim at Al Smith Dinner

At the Al Smith Dinner, Hillary delivered a rather bizarre "joke" during her remarks.

HILLARY CLINTON: If Donald does win, it'll be awkward at the annual Presidents Day photo, when all the former presidents gather at the White House, and not just with Bill. How is Barack going to get past the Muslim ban?

This makes no sense.

Obama is a Christian. Why would any ban apply to him?

First, it's ridiculous for Hillary to suggest that American Muslims would be removed from the country under a Trump administration. Second, it's nuts for her to consider Obama a Muslim.

After the speeches, analysts drew contrasts between this year's dinner and the interplay of previous presidential candidates roasting each other, pointing out that Clinton and Trump appear to actually not like each other, which made their time behind the podium sound more bitter than playful.

Yes, there was a lot of bitterness.

Both Trump and Hillary were really nasty.

They can't stand each other.

Trump received some boos.

Hillary received just one, when she said, "Donald really is as healthy as a horse, you know, the one Vladimir Putin rides around on."

Apparently, the crowd was more pro-Hillary, a lot of mainstream media people in attendance as well as Democrat New York politicians. She was just as tough on him as he was on her. Hillary didn't go high.

The elephant in the room: Hillary and the vicious anti-Catholic stuff from her campaign.

Cardinal Dolan has called for Hillary to distance herself from the comments and apologize.

Still waiting.

Mitt Romney: Al Smith Dinner (Video)

Mitt Romney was terrific at the Alfred Smith Dinner in New York City last night.

This notion that he's stiff and incapable of laughing at a joke, let alone successfully telling one, has been completely destroyed.

Romney made fun of himself and Obama.

Listen carefully on the video. You can hear Cardinal Timothy Dolan's distinctive, infectious laugh.

Romney had a lot of funny lines. I liked this one about the press:

MITT ROMNEY: Now, I'd never suggest that the press is biased. I recognize they have their job to do and I have my job to do. My job is to lay out a positive vision for the future of the country, and their job is to make sure no one else finds out about it.

I love that. His delivery was perfect.

Here's another good one about the press:

MITT ROMNEY: I've already seen early reports from tonight's dinner. Headline: 'Obama embraced by Catholics, Romney dines with rich people.'

Cardinal Dolan can be heard really laughing at that.

About the Catholic Church:

MITT ROMNEY: Of course, the president has put his own stamp on relations with the Church. There have been some awkward moments, like when the president pulled Pope Benedict aside to share some advice on how to deal with his critics. He said, 'Look, Holy Father, whatever the problem is, just blame it on Pope John Paul II.'

Cardinal Dolan enjoyed that one, too.

Romney ended his remarks with some very gracious words of respect and admiration for Obama.

Obama: Al Smith Dinner (Video)

Mitt Romney and Obama shared the stage last night at the Al Smith Dinner at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan sat between the two presidential candidates.

Both Romney and Obama made jokes at the expense of each other and themselves.

Obama told a good one about Chris Matthews.

OBAMA:This is the third time that Governor Romney and I have met recently. As some of you may have noticed, I had a lot more energy in our second debate. I felt really well rested after the nice long nap I had in the first debate. Although it turns out millions of Americans focused in on the second debate who didn't focus in on the first debate, and I happen to be one of them. I particularly want to apologize to Chris Matthews. Four years ago, I gave him a thrill up his leg. This time around, I gave him a stroke.
